ConferenceBike: The Seven Seater with Fun Potential

conferencebike2When I saw the video for this I LMFAO! I thought this octopus looking “bike” was a joke until I visited the website and found the seven seater ConferenceBike is for real, conceived by Dutch “Urban UFO” inventor Eric Staller.  It has actually been put to use for things like city tours, amusement park riding, senior citizen exercise, and yes actual corporate team-building.  My first thought was you’d expect to see one in Santa Barbara along East Beach with all the 6 seaters.  Well, actually, it turns out a shop downtown, Wheel House Bikes DOES have one (and has a cool story on how they acquired it). You know it’s only a matter of time before you see one in San Francisco along Fisherman’s Wharf.

Apparently the latest model CoBi-7 has Porsche front steering and “improved stability at higher speeds.”  How high?  Hmmm…   I wonder if ConferenceBike would sponsor a little end of the racing season fun…(maybe on the CoBi-5)  And it just might make a good commuter bike.  Taxi? Ride Share anyone?

For future models I would expect to see cup holders and a way to mount at least a pony keg or table in the middle.  Then it would really be a “party on wheels.” And then they could do a nice sequel to their first video

Those really serious about “conferencing”, perhaps they can integrate a Polycom phone, MiFi router, and power outlets.

BTW, I didn’t see this at Interbike. Credit my old UCSB cycling teammate Chris for finding this one.
