The race to build a bike
So I've been working with Mike Ahrens from Ahrens Bicycles to build the best cross country mountain bike possible to ride in the Cape Epic. I've got an old Dean Ti that I could ride. But, it's just that - old. And I never thought it really fit well. With no disc brakes, my hands would totally be cramping.
Today's issue may be on getting those disc brakes in time from Hayes (Stoker). Seems everyone's out at the bike show in Taiwan. I mean everyone. We're also trying to spec it with some Kenda tires (a Fusion Sport team sponsor) and I understand their entire crew is out there as well. Still trying to figure out the best tires for the terrain. I'm leaning towards the Kozmik Lites (think low rolling resistance and minimizing rotational weight).
Couple other items we had to downgrade already due to availability was the FSA K-Force Light MTB crankset (now Team Issue) and the Cranks Brothers 4Ti pedals (slight downgrade to the 2Ti's).
I know what you're thinking... It's not so much that I'm a weight freak, it's just that I want no excuses! One thing that is for sure is that I need to close a few more deals at work to afford everything now!
