It’s been well over a year since I’ve hit the dirt. I’ve focused so much on road riding after this year’s Coast Ride motivated me to get into better road shape. Last weekend I finally pulled my custom Ahrens hardtail (the one I rode in both BC Bike Race and Cape Epic) out of storage to ride Skeggs Point with some friends.
Other than my legs still being a bit tired from the marathon I did the previous week (report coming soon, i promise!), being sketchy rusty and taking a spill early, and having to fix a flat from lacking enough Stans to seal a puncture, a good time was had! It was a first (in a long while) not to have any Accelerade on a ride over 2 hours as I went plain water in my Camelbak. But a few of PHL’s new 2nd Surge gels got me through the ride and until we were able to hit up Robertson’s Market for a post ride deli sandwich and a cold Corona.
